What did you participate in during the week-long program?
Dayoung:
I always participated in ballet classes in the morning! And in the afternoon, the director trained us for an hour, using two different music and movement styles (repertoire). After that, we ended our day with a partnering session with one of the male dancers from the company.
Yume:
We mainly did two things at the company. One was to participate in the companyโsย classical ballet class, so I think that was easier for those who were trained in the classical style. As for the repertory class, we trained for contrasting fast and slow movements.
Also, before and after our workshop, we were able to watch the company's show rehearsals and participate in class on stage! It was as if I got another chance to audition again.ย
The director allowed me to take the company class at any time, even if I was in the process of auditioning for another dance company. ๐ฅฐ๐ฅฐ

How was the training program?

Yerim:
It was nice to be able to take classes with the company members. I was able to observe the other dancers first before doing moves that are new to me, and it was a great opportunity for me to learn, understand, and work on the parts I need to pay attention to!
It was also great to be able to experience various styles of dance: fast and quick sequence, emotional and lyrical sequence with soft music, and duet (partnering) with a professional male dancer.

How did you feel about this experience?ย

Seohyun:
Iโve always dreamed of going abroad, and I was finally able to learn and experience more diverse genres of dances. It was eye-opening to see dancers from all around the world dancing in one company, all with their own styles and expressions. I think Iโll be able to dance with a more open mindset, no matter if I pass or fail in an audition! โค๏ธ
Dayoung:
First of all, I realized that both ballet and contemporary skills are important. Also, it was a great experience to do ballet class every morning with live piano accompaniment. Apart from that, I felt the respect and consideration the dancers have for each other while maintaining an open, free atmosphere, so I was able to train happily for a week. ๐๐ป๐๐ป
Yerim:
I realized that I should work on my ballet and English skills. Thank you Dance Planner for providing us with this good experience! ๐๐ป
